The South Wales-based enterprise had been using an AK 230, however, the volume of waste wood had increased and they needed to shred more. Therefore, Prichard’s were interested in an AK 535 but, due to the global lockdown caused by Covid-19, the machine could not be sent over from Germany. Our business partner Blue Machinery Group offered them instead an AK 640 which they already had in stock. Prichard’s took advantage of this offer and in the end they were so impressed that they decided to opt for this high power machine made by Doppstadt. The production volume had increased considerably and the machine was able to keep up with their demand. The AK 640 allowed them to shred more waste wood than its predecessor and faster.
Prichard’s have been relying on Doppstadt quality for a long time. For waste wood shredding they combine the AK 640 with a Doppstadt DW 3060. They feed the waste wood into the DW 3060 slow speed shredder, which then feeds the AK 640 fast speed shredder. The combination of these two machines allows them to shred the material down to the size required. If necessary, a screener sorts the material into different grain sizes on three separate conveyors.
Prichard’s have known the high quality that Doppstadt machines and the Blue Machinery Group service offer for many years. They have bought several Doppstadt shredders and trommels in the past. The AK 640 is the biggest machine so far – and all expectations have been exceeded.
