Recycling laminated glass is anything but easy. Unlike normal waste glass, the special design of laminated safety glass poses challenges that need to be overcome. We have the right technology to turn the problem into a solution!
What makes laminated glass so special? It consists of two layers of glass that are joined together by a tear-resistant plastic film made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This construction ensures that splinters stick to the film even if the glass breaks - a clear safety advantage, but one that makes recycling more complicated. But this is precisely why we at Doppstadt have a process that optimally prepares the glass for recycling.
The preparation process
We separate glass and plastic and prepare the materials for recycling:
- pre-shredding with INVENTHOR 6.2
The powerful INVENTHOR 6.2 first pre-shreds the laminated glass. The DoppBasket comb basket ensures reliable separation of glass and plastic, which makes the subsequent work steps considerably easier. - removal of metal adhesions
Any metal parts in the glass are reliably removed by the overband magnet. - screening of the plastic films with the SM 518
The SM 518 drum screening machine screens the robust PVB plastic films. The circulation of the material in the drum promotes the separation of residual glass adhesions. The resulting undersize particles are thus ideally prepared for further processing. - further separation and refinement
In the next process steps, the material is further refined until a high-quality recyclate is produced that can be reused in the glass industry.
With Doppstadt solutions, you can rely on robust technology that simply works - with minimal effort. Thanks to their mobile use, our machines prepare the material directly on site so that the subsequent steps can be carried out quickly and efficiently. They are not only extremely efficient, but also strong and durable: even the high wear and tear that is unavoidable in glass recycling does not affect our solutions. They also score points with their simple maintenance, which prevents long downtimes and ensures that you can get started again quickly at any time.
